he Waitsfield Historical Society is located in the restored General Wait House at the North end of the Village Historic District on Route 100 in Waitsfield, Vermont. It is our purpose to discover, collect, preserve and exhibit artifacts, papers, and other materials that will illustrate the record of the historical development of the Mad River Valley, Waitsfield, Warren, Fayston and Moretown for future generations.

Waitsfield Historical Society Board Meeting
The next meeting of the WHS Board will be on Wednesday, February 7, at 2PM, at the Wait House Meeting Room. 
H.S. office and Museum will be open on Wednesdays from 2: pm to 5: pm except major holiday weeks. It would be best to call before: Lois De Heer @ 802-793-6037 

Walking Tour  The Waitsfield Historical Society has prepared a self-guided walking tour brochure and map to the historic district of Waitsfield. Many 18th and 19th century homes line Route 100 from the General Wait House to the Covered Bridge and are described for the visitor to follow. The brochure is free.

Collections and Research Library
Our collection consists of documents, artifacts, photographs and other material relating to local history. We continue to collect and catalogue archives on computer to be used for research.

The Waitsfield Historical Society Annual Dinner Was Held
Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at LAREAU FARMS PAVILION
The menu was: Cold smoked chicken pieces & finished in their earthen oven, Calico Slaw, New Potato Chive Salad, Blueberry Cornbread, with a Berry Crisp Dessert. 

19th Century Furniture and Quilts from the WHS Collection. This exhibition draws on some of the local antique items in the WHS collection. Featured is an 1820’s tall case clock (grandfather clock) long in the Joslin family. Also a Maple "sack back" rocking chair and a beautifully crafted side chair made around 1830 by a member of the Bushnell/Jones family. Several more chairs, tables and a bedstead from the Wait family, along with locally made quilts fill out the exhibit.at the General Wait house on Route 100 next to the firehouse.
